The Media Development Centre Skopje invites you to take part in the “Age of Information Disorder” webinar, which will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, on the online conferencing platform “ZOOM”, starting at 14.00 hours.

The featured speaker is Dr. Claire Wardle (https://vivo.brown.edu/display/cwardle), a leading expert on social media, user generated content, and verification. She is a co-founder of “First Draft”, the world’s foremost nonprofit focused on research and practice to address misinformation and disinformation. Dr. Wardle is researcher at the Brown University and professor of practice at the Brown School of Public Health. She is also the author of the chapter “Age of Information Disorder” of the “Verification Handbook for Disinformation and Media Manipulation”, translated and published in Macedonian and Albanian Language by the Media Development Centre.

This is the first of a series of webinars intended primarily for journalists and newsrooms, as assistance in their efforts to address and deal with the flood of unverified and unconfirmed, often false and mal-intended and misleading information over the internet and the social media. The aim is to strengthen the ability of journalists and newsrooms for responsible performance of their ethical and professional obligation to present their audiences with confirmed and verified news and information.

The webinar is organized under the auspices of the “Pre-Publication Fact-Checking in the Fight against Disinformation” project, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Skopje.
