The Media Development Centre invites you to participate in the webinar “Introduction to Investigative Journalism and Digital Approaches in  Investigations”, which will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, over the online conferencing platform “ZOOM”, starting at 16.00 hours.

This is the first of a series of online-workshops that the Media Development Centre organizes under the auspices of the “Investigative Journalism for the Age of Information Disorder” project, funded by the European Union. The workshops are based on individual chapters of the Verification Handbook for Investigative Journalism” and the “Guide: Introduction to Investigative Journalism” (published by the Global Investigative Journalism Network – GIJN), which is currently being translated and will soon be published in Macedonian and Albanian languages.

The webinars are intended primarily for journalists from traditional, mainstream newsrooms who don’t specialize in investigative reporting and journalism, and can also be useful to CSOs that conduct investigations and face the need for verification of findings and application of investigative reporting techniques in their everyday work.

In the first session, the webinar will provide a general introduction to investigative journalism. The second session will focus on specific practical approach to investigations in the digital domain.

The working language of the webinar is English. Translation into Macedonian and Albanian languages will be provided.

The webinar will be given by Craig Silverman, journalist, author and trainers. Silverman is one of the leading experts in the world in the area of fighting disinformation in the online sphere, fake news and digital investigations. He is founder of The Indicator, newsletter and website dedicated to exposing digital deceptionj and to equipping professionals with knowledge and skills to help them to investigate it. He has authored several books and is the editor of the “Verification Handbook” series of the European Journalism Centre (MDC translated and published them in Macedonian and Albanian languages).
